Abstract
165,056. Auto-Combinator Soc. Anon. June 14, 1920, [Convention date]. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Guarding against unauthorized use.-A rotatable member, for example the steering-shaft of a motor-vehicle, may be locked to prevent unauthorized use thereof, by mechanism comprising a tooth w adapted to engage a locking-wheel 51 on the steering-shaft 50, and carried by a sliding plate v working in inclined guides and operated by an eccentric u, the shaft s of which may be locked by the arm 60 of a combination lock 30 when the steering-shaft is locked. The eccentric is operated by a crank t secured in its terminal positions by a spring pin 70. The sliding plate moves between plates 61, 62, and is guided by screws 63 in the plate 62 which engage in a slot 64 in the sliding plate. The sliding plate is pressed into locking position by a spring 65 and secured therein by a catch 68 on the eccentric, a spring 69 serving to retain the eccentric in either of its terminal positions.
