P o r t a b l e buildings; sheet-metal structures.- Walls and roofs are built up of hollow similar units consisting of a wooden frame covered with sheet metal and traversed internally by tie rods 13, Fig. 14, adapted to engage with similar rods in contiguous units, so that the wall &c. is held together by rods extending its whole length. The floor consists of boarded frames held together by bolts. The roof sections abut against a ridge-pole 30, Fig. 6, which supports bolts 32 and crossties 31. The wall and roof units are connected by flexible metal bands 33. Partitions may consist of similar units up to the eaves and are completed by triangular sheet-metal panels. Packing-strips of feltedged with metal are interposed between the units and between the walls and roof &c. The end walls are completed by hollow or other shaped units consisting of wooden frames covered with sheet metal. Springs may be placed on various rods and bolts to impart a slight elasticity to the structure. The floor sections are secured to the bottoms of the wall sections by bolts 43 which take into threaded holes in the plates 14, Fig. 12. Fig. 13 shows an angle-plate for use at the corners, the tie-rods passing through the lateral' holes and being secured by nuts. Vertical posts secured by bolts taking into the holes 26 are used to finish off the corners. The end sections of the roof are formed with channel portions to takeover the top edges of the gables.
