Abstract

Dobbies.-In baulk dobby mechanism, relative motion between the catches and their draw-bars is prevented by arranging the draw-bars to oscillate about the same centres as the baulk levers. In a positive dobby, the catches 5, 5<a>, Fig. 1, are pivoted at the points a<1>, a about which the baulks 4 oscillate, the respective draw-bars 2, 2<a> being mounted on levers 3, 3<a> pivoted at the points a, a<1>. The levers 3, 3<a> carry the usual pressing-bars 12, 12<a> and are operated by a connecting-rod 7 on an extension 6 of the lever 3<a>, another extension 6<a> being connected to an extension 3<b> of the lever 3 by a link 8. Motion is transmitted to the levers at the other end of the dobby by a shaft 10 secured to similar levers 3<a>. The usual stopper bars 11, 11<a> are provided. In a non-positive dobby, the draw-bars 2, 2<a>, Fig. 3. move in slots S, S' concentric with the paths of the ends a, a<1> of the baulk levers and are mounted on levers 17, 17<a> adjustably pivoted at 15 on a lever 6 on a shaft 14 transmitting motion to the corresponding levers at the other end of the dobby.
