Abstract

In separating the double salt sodium-ammonium sulphate into sodium sulphate and ammonium sulphate as described in the parent Specification, the double salt is freed from its water of crysallization before treatment. The ammonium sulphate obtained by crystallization during the separation, or that obtained as described in Specification 128,895, is freed from sodium sulphate by washing it at about 60 DEG C. with a solution saturated in the cold with sodium and ammonium sulphates. The wash liquor is cooled to separate the double salt and the mother liquor, to which a small addition of ammonium sulphate may be made, is again used as wash liquor.
