Abstract

154,727. Dougall, P. Sept. 11, 1919. Regulating.-Relates to valve-gear for gasengines in which governing is effected by allowing the gas-valve 4 to remain closed when the speed is excessive, the exhaust valve, or an independent valve 9 being opened on the stroke following the idle suction stroke, so that the air that has been drawn in is discharged and no power is lost by air compression. According to the invention, when the governor lever 6 raises the die 3 to cut out the gas-valve, it also interposes a die 18 between a cam-actuated tappet rod 14 and a valve-actuating rod 12, so that the cam 1 actuates the air-releasevalve 9. The die 18 is slotted so as to slide on. the squared end of a rod 20 connected to thegovernor lever.
