Abstract
153,468. Wilson, R. M. Nov. 24, 1919. Sinking caissons and shafts by jetting.-In sinking caissons, shafts, and wells, skin friction is relieved and ridges II, which remain after dredging, are removed by forcing air, gas, water, grout or other liquid under variable pressure through pipes a arranged in the wall of the caisson &c. and provided with horizontal or inclined branch pipes a<1>. The branch pipes are preferably arranged in the lower third of the depth of the caisson &c. After sinking the caisson, the tubes are filled with grout.
