Abstract

1526844 Grain pearling apparatus IONY KK 7 Sept 1976 [10 Sept 1975] 37095/76 Heading A2Q A grain pearling machine, particularly for rice pearling, comprises a vertical pearling chamber 8, a driving shaft 1, coaxial with the chamber 8, fitted with a rotor 3, the chamber being provided with wall screens 4 which discharge bran, the wall screens being spaced from the rotor at a predetermined distance, an upper inlet 5 for supply of grain into the chamber and an outlet 6 immediately below the bottom of the shaft 1, the outlet being closed or partially closed by the obstruction 7 which may be vertically moved up or down according to the amount of grain contained in the chamber. The rotor 3 may be generally cylindrical and have a spiral projection to assist the pearling operation when grain is introduced into the chamber. The rotor 3 may also be in the form of an inverted truncated cone having a diameter which increases upwardly. The machine may have two pearling chambers, one vertically above the other, the upper chamber having a conical rotor and the lower a cylindrical rotor.
