Abstract
1523771 Flame retarded viscose fibres AVTEX FIBERS Inc 19 June 1975 [20 June 1974] 26076/75 Addition 1454616 Headings C3F and C3K [Also in Division C2] Regenerated cellulose filaments or filamentary articles have dispersed therein a flame-retardant amount of a condensed polymeric phosphazene obtained by self-condensation of a phosphonitrilic chloride partially esterified by a C1-C12 alcohol or metal alkoxide, the self-condensation being effected at at least 20‹ C. in the presence of trimethylamine with elimination or organic chloride. In an example a phosphonitrilic chloride partially esterified with n-propanol is self-condensed in the presence of trimethylamine and is then dispersed in rayon produced from a filament-forming aqueous viscose and the viscose spun into a conventional aqueous acid spin bath to form yarns which are then woven into fabric. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,390,306.
