Abstract
152,110. Nutt, H. V. July 5, 1919. Guarding against unauthorized use.-A device for preventing the unauthorized use of a motot-vehicle comprises a member the operation of which short circuits the ignition and locks the bonnet to prevent access to the engine. The member is normally held out of operative position by a spring detent which is released by the initial movement of the bolt of a lock, the bolt in its final position holding the member in its operative position. The member comprises a lever a mounted in a casing fitted to the instrument board and provided with a grooved segment e to which a Bowden wire c is attached; the wire c operates spring locking-devices on the bonnet. The lever a is held in its lower or inoperative position by a spring-controlled catch j, one arm j<2> of which is in contact with the bolt b<1> of a lock. On the operation of the bolt the lever a is released and rises to its upper position and short-circuits the ignition by engaging a contact d, being locked thereon by the engagement of a finger h thereon with the bolt. The bonnet-locking device comprises a spring movement o<2>, Fig. 4, which engages a catch on the bonnet and is retracbed by the Bowden wire o.
