Abstract
1506188 Hydraulic reciprocating pumps and motors VOITH GETRIEBE KG 23 June 1975 [22 June 1974 24 May 1975] 26612/75 Heading F1A A radial piston pump or motor comprises a casing 10, 1a, 11b mounting a control pintle 38, 39, 40, a cylinder block 13 rotatable on the pintle part 38, pistons 16 reciprocable in respective radial bores 15 in the block 13, a piston guide ring 20 rotatably mounted in the casing and having an inner periphery 21 composed of flat surfaces each contacted by a shoe 17 on the outer end of a respective piston, and opposed surfaces 42, 46 on the pintle part 40 and casing, respectively, the surfaces being separated by a hydrostatic bearing pad 50 and being positioned so as to oppose the force R representing the resultant of the hydrostatic forces acting on the pistons during operation. In the embodiment shown the pintle part 40 is rectangular in cross-section, the surface 42 and an opposed surface 43 thus being planar whereby the pintle is slidable between casing surfaces 46, 47 to adjust the eccentricity e between the axes 14, 25 of the pintle and guide ring 20. A bolt 60 movable by a handwheel or hydraulic cylinder causes movement of the pintle against a spring-loaded plunger 61. In a second embodiment, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown), the pintle part 40 is cylindrical and is eccentric with respect to the part 38, whereby angular adjustment of the pintle changes the eccentricity e. Working fluid flows into and out of the bores 15 through slots 34, 35 in the pintle, the slots being connected by bores 36, 37 either to radially opening inlet and outlet ducts 18, 19 (as shown) or axially opening ducts, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown). The resultant force D on the pintle due to the pressure in the ducts 18, 19 acting with the forces R, E produces only a slight turning moment on the pintle. The force D acts in an axial direction in the embodiment with axially opening ducts and is resisted by pressure pads (74, 75) between the surfaces 44, 48 of a flange part (139) of the pintle. A pressure pad 54 loads the pintle axially. Drive is transmitted between the guide ring 20 and a shaft 30 by a drive disc 32. Hydrostatic bearing pads 28 are provided for supporting the guide ring 20 in the casing 10.
