Abstract

1426148 Reciprocating pumps and motors CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 10 Oct 1974 [23 Oct 1973] 43967/74 Heading F1A An hydraulic pump or motor comprises a rotor 31 supported on a pintle valve 21 and having hollow pistons 33 on which cylinders 47 are reciprocable the cylinders engaging a ring assembly 38, 39, the eccentricity of which is adjustable to vary the cylinder displacement, and resilient means 71 biasing the cylinders against ring 39: As shown, the resilient means comprise springs 71 in recesses in collars 67 engaged by guide rings 66. In Figs. 3, 4 and 5 (not shown) springs 71 are replaced by a wave washer or a belleville washer. The eccentricity of ring assembly 38, 39 is adjusted by pressurizing the housing interior 17 on one side or the other of the ring assembly via one of passages 44, the other passage being vented. The bearing surface 49 of each cylinder is lubricated by working liquid via passage 52 and recess 51.
