1490521 Walking mechanisms DOBSON PARK INDUSTRIES Ltd 15 Oct 1974 [23 Nov 1973] 54442/73 Heading B7H In a walk-type self propelled vehicle extensible and rectractible means 15 operate via lever means 13, 19, 20 serving both to raise either member of a pair of ground engaging members 10, 11 according to extension and retraction of the means therefor and to have that member supported thereby when raised. In a particular embodiment two traction units, one on each side of the vehicle, are provided and each comprise inner and outer floor engaging members 10, 11. Levers having rollers 14 are pivoted to brackets 12 on inner member 10 so that extension of a double acting cylinder 15 connected between the inner ends of levers 13 causes rollers 14 to be raised and to engage upper tracks 19 on the outer member 11 which is supported clear of the ground. The advancing ram 21, connecting the members 10, 11 is extended so that outer member 11 is advanced by means of tracks 19 running on rollers 14. The ram 15, is then retracted and through levers 13 forces the rollers into engagement with lower tracks 20 on member 11 to raise inner member 10. Advancing ram 21, is then retracted to advance the inner member 10 which runs on the tracks 20. A base plate or chassis mounted on the outer member 11 may carry an articulated boom for supporting a materials displacing tool such as a percussion or impact tool.
