T FUKUOKA 15 Oct 1974 [2 Nov 1973 18 Jan 1974 4 May 1974] 44601/74 Heading A3B Footwear is made by moulding a shoe, &c. section including left and right parts respectively comprising a continuous lower side vamp portion integral with a rear quarter, the left and right parts of the lateral section meeting in the region of the toe; connecting an upper vamp section with the first shoe section; and connecting a sole to the first shoe section. In one form, the upper 1, Fig. 1, is moulded from a foamed polyurethane and has a foamed inner layer within a non-foamed outer layer. Sewing holes 2, 2' may be provided. A slot or hole (5), Figs. 4a, 4b, 6 (not shown) may be provided in each side of the upper for a fabric, &c. insert. A sole (10) is secured to the upper by sewing, &c. as in Fig 11. The lower edges of the upper 1 may be integral with an insole, or may be overlapped to form an insole, Figs. 12, 13 (not shown), or may be moulded into a sole. An upper vamp 25, Fig. 16, of leather, &c. is slidden into a slot 8, as in Fig. 11, around the upper 1, sewed into place. The connection between the upper vamp, &c. and the lower vamp, &c. may be by way of a double or single slotted bead with various decorative embellishments, Figs. 17-30 (not shown), obtained by moulding of the bead or by stitching, &c.
