Abstract

1484160 Electrostatographic fixing XEROX CORP 19 Nov 1974 [26 Nov 1973] 49966/74 Heading G2H [Also in Division F2] A heated roll fusing apparatus comprises a roll 31 including a heat conductive core 32 covered with a porous layer 36 which is impregnated with offset preventing material. A thin, deformable outer layer 38 which allows the offset preventing material to pass through to its outer surface is supported by layer 36 and receives the offset preventing material therefrom, forming a barrier to toner material on the image being fused. A threaded collar 42 and flange 40 hold layer 36 in position and means may be provided to separate roll 31 from a backup roll 44 when not in use. Materials for the components are specified.
