Abstract

1482403 Controlling heat fuser for copy sheets INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 15 March 1976 [28 April 1975] 10215/76 Heading G2H A xerographic copier includes a hot roll fusing station comprising a rotatable hot roll having a deformable coating and an internal heater, and a rigid back up roll arranged, in operation, to be biased into contact with the hot roll so as to deform the coating thereon to form a fusing nip, and control means operable to separate the rolls when the copier is in a standby mode and, when the copier is set into a copying mode, to close the rolls so as to cause at least one revolution of the hot roll in contact with the back up roll prior to the arrival at the nip of the copy sheet, or the first copy sheet, in a copying operation.
