Abstract

1483431 Feeding sheets XEROX CORP 3 April 1975 [12 April 1974] 13626/75 Heading B8R Sheets are separated from the top of a pile 38, Fig. 2, by two friction rollers 36, Figs. 2 and 3, each comprising an inner cylindrical member 84 of solid polyurethane and an extensible resilient sleeve 86 of gum rubber. The rollers are rotated in successively opposite directions by means of a cam 62, and while rotated opposite to feed direction are raised clear of the pile by means of a cam 64. The separated sheet passes up a surface 54 and is arrested and buckled by stops 58. When feed grippers on a chain reach the vicinity of the leading edge of the sheet, the stops are released and the sheet springs into the grippers, which carry it through a xerographic machine, the xerographic drum of which is mounted on the shaft 60 carrying the cams. The sleeve may have resilient and non-resilient portions.
