Abstract
1481447 Mooring systems NIPPON OIL CO Ltd and MIWA SHOKAI CO Ltd 17 Dec 1974 54465/74 Heading B7S In a vessel mooring system comprising groups of mooring equipment 2a-2f fixed to wharf 3 each group such as 2a includes a tension detecting element and at least one hook such as 5a. Ropes such as 6a are connected at one end to the or each hook and at the other end to a winch such as 7a on the vessel 1. The tension exerted on each group is adjustable through signals produced by the tension detecting element so that the vessel can be moored in a balanced condition. The tension detecting elements may be strain gauges, load cells or tension meters and the embodiment of Fig. 4 shows a load cell 13 attached in part 12a of hook 12 interposed between mooring post and rope.
