919,628. Suspended decks. WESER A.G. Feb. 23, 1961 [Feb. 23, 1960], No. 6749/61. Class 113. Carrier platforms 1 are suspended in a ship's hold on cables 2 or chains 7, the platforms resting on carrier members secured to the cables or chains, each carrier member being of greater diameter than the next higher one so that the platforms, on being raised, will pass over the higher carrier members. Three embodiments of carrier members are described. Those illustrated in Figs. 3 and 5 have an aluminium cylinder 10 pressed on to a cable 2, the cylinder supporting a cone comprising either a heapdiece 13, sheet metal side 14 and stiffening plate 16, Fig. 3, or consisting of a solid cone 12. The embodiment shown in Fig. 4 comprises a headpiece 19, through which a chain 7 passes, a sheet metal hemi-sphere 8 secured to the headpiece, a stiffening plate 16, and a wedge 11 passing through a link of the chain and securing it to the carrier member. The carrier members have inverted cones 15 fitted to guide the platforms when the latter are raised. Reinforcing plates 18 which bear on the carrier members are secured to the platforms 1. The height of the platforms may be adjusted by screw means attached to the top of the cable or chain, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown). Specification 853,827 is referred to.
