Abstract

1478183 Bail handles DAVID BOWLER & SONS Ltd 11 July 1975 [6 Aug 1974] 34603/74 Heading B8D A metal or plastics bail handle 14 is attached to opposite rivets 11 on a container by providing an elongated hole at each end of the handle, each hole having a maximum length b extending lengthwise of the handle equal to or greater than the diameter a of the rivet head 13 and a maximum width d equal to or greater than the diameter c of the rivet shank 12 but less than that of rivet head, whereby each end can be "buttoned" onto the respective rivet by twisting the respective handle end and passing the rivet head through the handle hole. As shown, the holes are of rectangular shape. In one modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the holes are of elliptical form. In other modifications, Fig. 4 (not shown), the holes are defined by a lengthwise slot having a circular aperture superimposed thereon. The intermediate portion of the handle may be of increased thickness, Fig. 6 (not shown) or stiffened by lengthwise ribs, Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown), and provided with a suspension hole, Fig. 7 (not shown), or a transverse folding groove 18, Fig. 8 (not shown). The holes may be provided in recessed portions of the handle ends, Fig. 11 (not shown).
