Abstract

1468725 Erasable diazotype materials GAF CORP 15 March 1974 [23 March 1973] 11667/74 Heading G2C An erasable diazotype material comprising a non-fibrous plastics support coated with a first matte layer of a cellulose derivative and a pigment preferably applied in an organic solvent and a second layer which is either (a) a two-component diazotype composition plus acid stabilizer and a binder applied as an aqueous emulsion or (b) a binder applied as an aqueous emulsion and then a two-component diazotype composition, the second layer being easily erased, and no mixing occurs between first and second layers. The support may be coated on both sides with matte layers. In the Examples, a polyester support is coated with an organic solution of cellulose acetate propionate and ground glass as the indicia marking matte layer, and then with a precoat composition which is either (c) a polyvinyl acetate aqueous emulsion and silica gel or (d) a styrene/vinyl acetate copolymer aqueous emulsion and ground glass and finally with a 2-component diazotype layer. Alternatively, an aqueous emulsion of polyvinyl acetate, silica gel and a 2-component diazotype composition may be applied to the indicia marking layer. The top layer or layers may be erased and corrections added to the indicia marking layer using ink or pencil.
