Abstract

1460676 Coupling implements to tractors; hitches C VAN DER LELY NV 5 April 1974 [10 April 1973] 15308/74 Headings A1B and A1P A soil cultivating implement such as a rotary harrow includes a releasable coupling unit which can be coupled to either the front or rear of the harrow frame and can be drawn or pushed when the unit is connected to the quick-hitch system of a traction vehicle. The coupling unit comprises a vertical triangular frame 31 whose apex has plates 34 provided with struts 35A which are connected to the harrow frame 1 by releasably bolted horizontal plates 36. The lower corners of the triangular frame have vertical plates 37 which are connected to horizontal plates 30 releasably bolted to the harrow frame. A gear box 42 is also releasably bolted to the frame by plates 46 so that it can be turned through 180‹ to enable coupling to a vehicle p.t.o. shaft 45 when the coupling unit is in its forward or rear position. The unit is connected to a quick release coupling 32 of a quick-hitch system 48 via a pivoted arm 41 and pin and slot connection 39, 40. The working height of the harrow is determined by a roller 15. Spring biassed lateral guard plates 24 are urged against the side of the frame on rods 23 which are adjustably engaged within sleeves 22 at the end of pivoted arms 11. The guards help crumble the soil and move away from the frame when engaged by stones to prevent tine damage.
