Abstract

1459486 Male urinal device ROGERS INDUSTRIES Inc 12 Feb 1974 [9 Oct 1973 12 Feb 1973] 06363/74 Heading A5R A urinal sheath 11 of flexible material for application to a penis 10 for covering a substantial portion of the same and having connecting the sheath through a conduit to a urine receptacle is in combination with a liner pad 16 of resiliently compressible waterproof material in the form of a strip having a width sufficiently great to extend over a substantial portion lengthwise of the unflexed sheath and of a length at least one and one half times the greatest circumference of the unflexed sheath to enable the strip to be wrapped around the penis inside the sheath. Liner 16 is of a polymer-oil elastomeric combination or of polyurethane closed-cell foam material cross-linked by electron radiation. Latex sheath 11 comprises conical 13 and tubular 14 portions, and a body portion 12 of thinner material which is rolled-up on itself before application and then unrolled over the penis and liner. An elastic tape 18 is wound at least twice around the sheath, overlapping layers adhering by use of a pressure-sensitive adhesive or by virtue of corrugations (Fig. 4, not shown). In Fig. 6, liner 35 is a blend of nitrile rubber and polyvinyl chloride expanded to form a closed-cell foam structure with a pressure-sensitive adhesive on each of its sides to adhere to the skin and sheath when protective backings are removed in use. Liner 35 is 1¥ inches wide, 5¥ inches long and <SP>3</SP>/ 32 inches thick. After winding, the liner is gripped to mould it to the penis. Prior to application the sheath is soaked in a sulphuric acid and chlorine bleach solution to reduce stickiness and is then unrolled over the liner, the remaining roll 15 exerting no appreciable pressure on and forming no seal with the penis.
