Abstract

1459390 Preventing corrosion by aqueous media HOUSEMAN HEGRO Ltd 29 Nov 1973 [29 Nov 1972 15 Aug 1973] 55128/72 and 38530/73 Heading C1C [Also in Division C7] Water-induced corrosion and scale formation are reduced by means of a composition comprising a lignosulphonate adsorbent, together with up to 0À2 parts by wt. of Zn, and from 0À2- 5 parts by wt. of citric, gluconic or heptagluconic acid, or water-soluble salt thereof, per part of adsorbent. A complex mixture of Na lignosulphonate with Na polyhydroxy monocarboxylates derived from a modified sulphite lye may be used. The Zn source may be ZnCl 2 and all other cations may be Na. Other additives are alkalis, e.g. NaOH, KOH, Na 2 CO 3 , K 2 CO 3 ; a preservative, e.g. dichlorophen; and a poly(meth)acrylate scale inhibitor.
