Abstract

145,669. Hoover Suction Sweeper Co., (Assignees of Hoover, H. E.). March 14, 1918, [Convention date]. Bushes.-A fibre or wooden bearing brush for the brush shaft of a suction carpet sweeper, and for other shafts, is cut away or recessed so that no part of the bush is in contact with both the shaft and the housing. The bush K, Fig. 1, is recessed at I and G, the two recesses overlapping somewhat. After being pressed into its seat in the housing, the bush is reamed out to the correct size of the shaft, and the recesses prevent binding on the shaft through subsequent distortion. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also a modification shown in Fig. 5 (Cancelled), comprising a bear. ing for a rotating shaft formed with an additional recess L' to allow for distortion by a clamping screw L'. In addition to the central supporting- rib shown, the bush L<3> may have similar ribs at its ends. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
