Abstract

Combing-machines.-In machines of the Heilmann type with multiple heads, the nipper frame is made self-contained and is arranged and mounted to be capable of removal from and reinsertion in the machine without disturbing the adjustment of the adjacent nipper frames. The nipper frame a, Fig. 1, is pivoted in brackets B on supports A. Each support A serves for two adjacent nipper frames and is provided with two independent adjustment plates E, Fig. 5, secured by screws F and carrying adjustment screws D. The nipper knife lever d is connected to the nipper-operating lever G by rods K, Fig. 4, the lower end of which is secured by nuts L in an open-ended slot J in a piece I mounted on a pin H passing through a hole in the end of the lever G. The piece I has bearings on each side of the lever.
