Abstract

Street and like lanterns or casings.-An adapter for use in converting a batswing or upright incandescent gas lamp or lantern into an inverted incandescent gas or electric incandescent lamp or lantern comprises an enamelled or other reflector plate a of such dimensions as to be insertable into the top frame of the lamp and formed with a central aperture b above which a chimney g is secured. The reflector plate a is supported on the top frame of the lamp by means of fixed and adjustable catches. The adjustable catches may consist (1) of pointed catches d carried by screws e sliding in slots c at the corners of the plate and secured in position by thumb-nuts f, (2) cam devices d<3>, (3) sliding catches d<5> operated by eccentrios d<6>. The chimney g may be secured to the reflector plate by brackets h and screws g<1>, i or by bayonet-slot connexions. The chimney is formed with keyhole apertures g<2>, g<12> for the burner and by-pass tubes, and is preferably fitted with a cowl g<6>. The reflector plate may be provided with a depending rim or lugs supporting a gas-mantle globe or cylinder by means of bayonetslot connexions.
