Abstract

1443621 Pressure-sensitive recording sheets FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 15 Feb 1974 [17 Feb 1973] 7083/74 Heading D2B A developer sheet capable of developing a coloured image when contacted under marking pressure with a colour-former comprises a sheet having one one facq thereof a developer layer comprising a clay, a monomeric organic acid or metal salt thereof, a mixture of an organic acid with a metal compound, or a mixture thereof, and a layer free of developer containing a non-colour-forming alkaline material adjacent the developer layer. The alkaline material may be a water-insoluble or slightly soluble salt of an alkaline earth metal, or an oxide or hydroxide of an alkaline earth metal, or a mixture thereof. Preferred materials are magnesium oxide, magnesium phosphate, calcium carbonate, and calcium phosphate. The monomeric organic acid, which may be used in the developer layer, may 'be an aromatic carboxylic acid e.g. salicyclic acid, or a phenol. The support may be paper, film, or synthetic paper. The alkaline material layer may be between the sheet and the developer layer; or, it may lie on top of the developer layer which would then be next to the sheet. The developer sheet may be used with a sheet coated with a colour former. Middle sheets for use with such a combination may be provided by coating the opposite face of the developer sheet with a layer of microcapsulated colour-former. Single recording materials may be made by providing a layer of microcapsulated colour former on the face bearing the developer layer.
