Abstract

1440491 Spacing cigarettes in a making machine SKODA NARODNI PODNIK 4 Oct 1973 [8 Feb 1973] 46446/73 Heading A2C A device, for increasing the spacing between cigarettes comprises a roller 12 having a plurality of projections 14 uniformly spaced around the roller to define grooves 13 having a width greater than the cigarettes, each projection 14 having flanks 15, 16 which make an acute angle with each other. In use cigarettes move in a path formed between a rotatable drum 5 and a fixed arcuate guide 6 to rotate the cigarettes so that they are wrapped in a paper strip 7 and are then supplied to the opening roller 12 is driven at a speed greater than the speed of movement of the cigarettes around the drum 5. The guide 6 is provided at its end adjacent the roller 12 with a recess to allow the passage of the projections 14.
