Walls.-Concrete and like slabs 1, 2 are recessed and stepped on their upper and lower outer edges at 3, 4 to accommodate the turned-down ends 7 of X-shaped sheet-metal wall-ties 6. The arms 6<a>, 6<b> and 6<c>, 6d enter recesses of adjoining slabs 2a, 2<b> and 2<c>, 2<d>, thus maintaining the vertical faces of the slabs Bush with one another. V-shaped pieces 8 are turned down to bear against the slabs 1. Another form of wall-tie consists of a plain strip 10 with split ends 11, 12 which are turned down to fit in the recess 4 and against the inner surface of the slab respectively.
