Abstract
142,767. Burgon, A. Jan. 24, 1920. Roll-holders, winding-devices for.-In a box containing a length of fabric wound on a roller provided with a readily attachable and detachable handle, a bearing independent of that for supporting the roller is provided in the box and for the handle head. As shown, the box has inner and outer end parts d, e, Fig. 6, and a plate c secured to the part d and slotted from the top to provide a bearing for the pivot spindle b<3> of the roller a, the part d also being slotted from the top. A bearing hole e<1> is provided in the part e for the head h of the handle h<2>, which, as shown, has a square hole h<1> to engage a square head b<4> on the spindle b<3>. The head b<4> may be of other shape, or may be provided with a square hole to be engaged by a corresponding projection on the handle head, or a circular disk at the end of the spindle may have slots in its periphery to be engaged by projections on the handle head. In another form, the roller a<1>, Fig. 8, has a metal cap s and washer t and is supported directly in a hole formed in the inner end part u of the box, the outer part v having a circular hole v<1> to form a bearing for a handle head w which has a square projection w<1> engaging a similar hole in the cap s and washer t.
