Coiled-tube superheaters.-A hollow steamsuperheating deflector or baffle is arranged in a furnace smoke-box in front of the tube plate, the deflector being of approximately of the same contour as the outer line of flue tubes. Figs. 1 and 3 show such a baffle. acting as a steam-superheater in a locomotive smoke-box, consisting of two coils 42 supported on a rod 49 by hooks 48 and connected by steam-pipes 46, 47 to the boiler and cylinders. Similar superheating baffles formed in one continuous coil are also shown in the combustion chambers of stationary boilers.
