Cabin and decklights.-In a device for fastening and tightening the glass-holders and dead-lights of ships' portholes, a disk c is secured to the fixed frame a carrying a packing-ring d, and is provided with an internal screw-threads en two opposite quadrants c<1>, the remaining quadrants c<2> being recessed and plain. The glass-holder b, which is provided with similar screw-threaded and plain quadrants b<1>, b<2>, may this be inserted into contact with the packing-ring d and tightened against the same by engaging the screw-threads and giving a partial turn to the glass-holder. The deadlight e is secured in a similar fashion to the glassholder. When the glass-holder is disengaged from the disk c, trunnions b<3> on the holder are in alinement with slots c<4> in upstarting lugs c<5>. This arrangement permits the distance of the glass-holder from its seating to be adjusted, and it may be secured at an inclination by means of a tightening-screw b<4>. In the modification shown in Fig. 6, the guide for the trunnions is extended as shown at g<1>, thus allowing the glass-holder to be slid laterally to leave the porthole entirely open.
