Abstract

154,147. Silvester, W. H. July 13, 1920. Lids and covers.-To make the fire-brick of a crucible-furnace cover readily replaceable, the sides 1, 3 of the frame are detachably connected to the sides 2, 4 by T-headed lugs, which engage in slots in the sides. The lug shanks enter enlarged portions of the slots, are rotated through 90 degrees, and then slide outwards. A fire-brick is clamped in the frame by a plate 11 operated by a bolt 10 engaging a tapped hole in one side. The bolt-head 12 has several intersecting tommy-holes, and the hole for the time being at right-angles to the cover also serves to receive, at either opening, the end of the canting lever 14.
