Abstract
141,982. Robinson, W. J. July 21, 1919. Circulating or passing materials through fluids. -Bundles 5 of flax and like straw are secured to the outside of a rotary perforated polygonal drum 1 with the root ends laid in the direction of rotation of the drum. The drum dips into a vat 8 and the rotation of the drum causes the fibres to be alternately treated by the liquid and exposed to the air. The bundles are preferably held upon the drum by means of a. tightly drawn wire-cloth envelope 10. The drum can be moved bodily to successive vats for treatment with different liquids and for rinsing. Surplus liquid can be squeezed out after treatment by traversing rollers.
