Abstract
1418982 Cold cathode tubes TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON 5 March 1973 [13 March 1972] 10617/73 Heading H1D The gaps S 1 and S 2 between each electrode E 1 , E 2 and the envelope K of a surge protection device have a maximum width of 0À15 mm. and a minimum length of 1 mm. The gaps S 1 and S 2 can be uniform or tapered and the active faces of the electrodes can have cavities H 1 , H 2 which can be conical, cylindrical, spherical or have stepped cylindrical portions. The circumference of the active faces can be rounded, chamfered or have a stepped form Figs. 2c, 2d, 2e (not shown). The invention can also be applied to a three electrode protection device, Fig. 5 (not shown) in which between two end electrodes similar to those in Fig. 3 there is a central annular electrode also having a gap between the electrode and the envelope of the above dimensions.
