Abstract
1414522 Tundish pouring spouts VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISENUND STAHLWERKE AG and E HAGENBURGER 19 Oct 1972 [21 Oct 1971] 48260/72 Heading F4B [Also in Division B3] A refractory pouring spout, e.g. inserted in the bottom 1 of a tundish, has a closed base 17 and separately-formed outlet tubes 7, 7<SP>1</SP> received in openings 6 in its walls. There may be as many as eight outlet tubes, of the same diameter but differing lengths, according to the shape into which the spout extends. They are made of corundum or a sintered Mo-ZrO 2 material and may be exchangeable, being pressed or screwed into place. The end bevel 8 or 81 is chosen according to the required direction of outflow. The bore may be funnel-shaped. A separately-formed head 3 of the spout, with tapered wall, may be of a material more resistant to erosion than that of the main part 2. Connection is by screw coupling or two dumbbell shaped coupling pieces 4.
