Abstract

141,022. Great Northern Paper Co., (Assignees of Pope, C. E.). March 28, 1919, [Convention date]. Drying; guiding-mechanism; slitting in paper machines.-The lead strip of a paper machine is transferred from the drying-rolls 1 to the calenders 6<b>, 6<c> by means of an air conductor or air jet 5<a>, which directs the strip beneath an idle roll 7 and between two guide-plates 8, 9, the upper of which is also provided with an air conductor 10<a>. The air supply is controlled by a main valve and the air conductors 5<a>, 10<a> are each provided with valves for adjustment separately. The lead strip is formed by apparatus described in Specification 151,623.
