Abstract

1402540 Gas turbine flame tubes LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 3 Oct 1972 [5 Oct 1971] 46214/71 Heading F1L [Also in Division F4] A gas turbine flame tube having air inlet ports 10 to 13 disposed so as to set up upstream and downstream toroidal vortex zones 14, 15 within the tube is provided with a grommet 20 supporting a fuel spray device 18, the grommet being mounted with clearance in a hole in the flame tube and having a flange 21 which directs the air-flow entering through the clearance so as to reinforce vortex zones 14, 15. Grommet 20 is itself supported by a member 22 having a flat peripheral portion 23 secured to the flame tube and projections 24 engaging the grommet and defining airflow passages 27. A T-shaped reinforcing rib 16 extends circumferentially within the flame tube in alignment with spray device 18. The latter directs fuel sprays 18a, b into vortex zones 14, 15 respectively.
