Abstract
139,674. Whittle, G. C., and Whittle, J. T. April 24, 1919. Lateral-splash guards.-A guard 17 of chainmail &c. is carried by a link-work frame mounted in ball bearings 1<a> carried by an arm fixed to a cap 1 firmly secured to the hub-cap of the wheel by set-screws 2. The link-work frame can be closed in, or extended, so as to raise or lower the screen, and clamped in any desired position. Two pivoted links 3, 4 carry clips 5, 6 sliding on a transverse rod 7, their position being fixed, to adjust the height of the guard 17 from the ground, by means of stops 8, 9. Two auxiliary links 12, pivoted scissors-wise at 15 and clamped by means of a wing-nut, form a further support for the bar 7, from which the bar 18 carrying the guard is suspended by means of end plates 19 and nuts 20. Three centring-gauges may be secured to the cap 1 between the set-screws 2, in order to position the cap accurately upon the wheel hub.
