1391539 Vehicle floor mats UNIVERSAL CLIMB CO Ltd 9 Nov 1972 51826/72 Heading A4S A vehicle floor mat comprises a flexible sheet member 12 and a flexible member 20 integrally formed with or detachably attached to the member 12 and having faces 21, 22 which with the adjacent surface portions 15, 16 of the member 12 provide two-alternatively useable foot support faces, viz for a bare foot or a shod foot, respectively. A portion 14 is used for doffed footgear. The bare foot support face may be provided by a cloth sheet secured to the face 22 and surface portion 16 or by the latter having short fibre strands embedded in them. The members 12 and 20 may be made of rubber or synthetic resin, and the connection 23 between these may be as the alternative constructions described with reference to Figs. 5 to 9 (not shown). Two sideby-side floor mats may be inter-connected by a flexible web, Fig. 1 (not shown). In a second embodiment, Figs. 10 to 15 (not shown), the flexible member 20 is formed by portions of two flexible sheet members secured back-to-back with the other portions of the sheet members providing the surface portions 15, 16 and being secured to an underlying floor-contacting member. In a third embodiment, Figs. 16 to 19 (not shown), the member 20 is detachably secured to the member 12 by L- or T-shaped tongues on the base of the member 20 releasably engaging in slits in the member 12. Co-operating edge rims on the members 12 and 20 may be as described with reference to Figs. 20 to 22 (not shown). The underside of the mat may have resilient cone or pyramid-shaped projections for gripping the floor, Figs. 23 to 29 (not shown).
