Abstract

1391343 Containers W ZARGES 9 June 1972 [9 June 1971] 27113/72 Heading B8P To enable baked goods to be cooled and transported on the same container and thereby reduce handling time and cost two side walls each have a portion arranged to hinge to allow a current of air to flow around the goods; when the sides are closed a lid is fitted to eliminate dust. At least one of the portions being openable by a pivotal movement from the floor towards the lid. In one form sides 5, 7 have their lower portions 6, 8 hinged by pins 11 engaged in slots in detents 10, latching mechanism 13 which may be a hook or magnet holding the sides open. A rod 14 held down when the lid is in position bears on the pins 11 and prevents the lower edges 12 of the sides from disengaging from the edges 9 of the base 4. A lid 17 may be held open by members 18 pivoted to the lid or to the sides. Spacing strips 16 ensure air circulation between the goods and the container sides. In another embodiment, the whole of each of two opposite sides is pivoted, one side being pivoted along its top edge and the other side being pivoted along its lower edge. The container may be of rigid or collapsible construction.
