Abstract
1387491 Hydraulic reciprocating pumps or motors ABEX CORP 16 March 1972 [29 March 1971] 12469/72 Heading F1A [Also in Division G3] In a variable displacement, rotary cylinder block pump or motor, a piston 100 biases the displacement control member 17 towards its zero displacement position with a force which increases in direct proportion to the force applied to the member 17 by the inertia of the working pistons, thereby reducing the force required to adjust the member 17. The adjustment of member 17 may be effected by the servomotor system shown, controlling fluid motors 88, 89 with feedback control (see Division G3), or by manual or mechanical means. The actuating pressure for piston 100 is supplied by a fixed displacement pump 115, e.g. a gear-pump, driven from cylinder block 9 and connected by its outlet to piston 100, and the pump casing interior 123 via throttle 122 to provide the required relationship between the pump speed and the force applied by piston 100. As shown, piston 100 acts on a cam surface 130 on member 17, but in Figs. 1 and 3 (not shown), the piston acts on a crank-pin on one of the pivots of the member 17.
