Abstract

1386112 Can ends AMERICAN CAN CO 21 Feb 1972 [22 Feb 1971] 7966/72 Heading B8D An easy-open can end comprises a domed central panel 12 having peripheral radiallyseparated areas A and B which are curved in the same sense as the panel, a contiguous U- shaped reinforcing groove 16 extending around panel, and an upstanding chuck wall 18 terminating in an arcuate seaming flange 20. The areas are joined by a frusto-conical area 14. Alternatively, Fig. 5 (not shown), a step or depression may form one or more internally convex areas V between, and on either side of, the areas A<SP>1</SP> and B<SP>1</SP> section. A score-line 22 defines a tear-out section in the central panel.
