Abstract

1384228 Ventilating glasshouses A G SPARKES 21 Jan 1972 [28 Oct 1970] 51265/70 Heading F4V Apparatus for supplying conditioned air to a glasshouse comprises a plenum or duct 4 formed from a plastics sheet 6 mounted on framework 7. Containers 1 for the plants are suspended across the top of the duct 4. Air from outside is drawn into the duct 4 by a fan (not shown), this air may be heated or cooled if necessary, and may also pass through a humidifying chamber. If heating is required the warm air is allowed to rise out from the duct through spaces 9 between the containers, but if cool air is to be supplied it is preferred to draw the air through the duct 4 using extraction fans in the exterior walls of the building. In another form the plant containers are supported on a perforated frame forming the top of the plenum. Air is supplied to the plenum by perforated pipes running along inside the plenum.
