Abstract
417,455. Ventilating rooms. HALL & KAY, Ltd., HALL, S., and KAY, P., Stockport Road, Ashton-under-Lyne. March 29, 1933, No. 9401. [Class 137.] Apparatus for circulating and heating or cooling air in rooms comprises a fan 13 which draws air from the room or enclosure through a conduit 4 and discharges it either through heating or cooling gilled pipes 8 into the room, or through a conduit 10 to the exterior of the room. The air supply to the room is controlled by air deflectors 16, 17 one of which is slidably mounted on an annular flange 22 or 23, so that by their adjustment, and that of a valve 11 in the conduit 10, any desired proportion of air may be returned to the enclosure and the remainder (the whole if required) may be discharged to the outside. Both deflectors may be adjustable. In a modification, an additional fan may be mounted above the motor 12 to draw air direct from the enclosure through an annular opening in the upper casing 3 and discharge it through the outlet 11. Water or steam sprays may be directed into the air discharged into the room for moistening, heating, or cooling purposes.
