Abstract
138,327. Honhorst, G., (Representative of Honhorst, W. C.), and Sofge, J. Dec. 8, 1917, [Convention date]. Alloys.-A steel alloy contains chromium and copper, the copper being preferably in excess of the chromium and the two metals together not exceeding 5 per cent, preferably 1-2 per cent. The alloy may contain about 0.43 per cent of chromium, about 0.83 per cent of copper, and about 0.4 per cent of carbon. The silicon, phosphorus, manganese, and sulphur together may be from 0.7 to 2 per cent. The alloy is preferably made in an electric furnace, the copper being added early in the melt and the chromium later.
