Abstract

118,947. British Thomson - Houston Co., (General Electric Co.). Nov. 20, 1917. Alloys.-Aluminium alloys contain about 6 to 12 per cent of zinc, about ¢ to 2¢ per cent of magnesium, and about 1 to 3 per cent of iron, chromium, cobalt, nickel, titanium, or manganese, or a, mixture of these metals, the balance being aluminium. The aluminium is preferably melted first, then the iron &c. added, then the zinc, and finally the magnesium, and the first stages of the working of the alloy are carried out at about 450‹ C.
