1383147 Cooling rolled products INSTITUT CHERNOI METALLURGII and KRIVOROZHSKY METALLURGICHESKY ZAVOD IMENI VI LENINA 8 March 1973 11288/73 Heading B3M Apparatus for quenching, cooling and hydraulically conveying a rolled product includes axially aligned tubular chambers 1 through which the product passes, each chamber being supplied at 3 with a coolant and having a nozzle assembly 4 at its downstream end for preventing the coolant from entering a downstream chamber 2. The assembly includes a tapered headpiece 5 having an aperture 6 in its wall which allows some of the cooling to pass to a nozzle 7 to provide a deflecting stream. A gate 9 controls the proportions of fluid passing to the nozzle or to a drain 10.
