Abstract

1377545 Automatically locking slider YOSHIDA KOGYO KK 11 Feb 1972 [15 Feb 1971] 6571/72 Heading E2S An automatically locking slider in which lateral motion of the locking means is prevented comprises a support member 21 on the slider body 11 with a head 27 and shoulders 28, adjacent to it a recess 24 for holding one end 33 of a U-shaped locking member 25, an opposed similar support member 22, and adjacent to it an aperture 26 in the slider body 11 through which can project a locking finger 36 on the other end of the locking member 25. The locking member 25 has a neck portion 35 which projects through a rectangular aperture in a leaf spring 23, and it bears via shoulders 34 on side portions 29 of the leaf spring 23. The latter has opposite forked prongs which are bent upwards to engage the iner wall of a yoke 17, and which straddle the heads 27 of the opposed support members 21 and 22. The yoke 17, in the form of a hollow cap, is anchored to recesses 32 at the opposite ends of the slider body 11. The locking finger 36 is held in engagement under the action of the leaf spring 23 until pivoting of the pull tab 20 acts on the locking member 25 to withdraw the locking finger 36 and bend the leaf spring 23. During this motion the locking member 25 is contained not to move laterally. In alternative embodiments (Figures 6, 7, and 8, not shown) the locking member 25 has the rectangular recess and the leaf spring the associated neck portion, or the leaf spring 23 carries at each end a single prong which engages in a recess in the associated support member 21 or 22, or the support members are smooth and the leaf spring 23 is restrained from lateral movement by engagement with the side walls of the yoke 17.
