Abstract

1,140,100. Releasable fastenings. JACOBYBENDER Inc. 4 April, 1967 [11 April, 1966], No. 15472/67. Heading E2A. A fastener for a necklace or the like or for fastening .a key to a key-ring comprises a hour ing 82 in which are slidably mounted two members 16, 18 which project from one end; are so shaped as to form a loop for receiving, e.g., one end link 26 of a chain, and are urged in opposite directions by a spring 68 against stops 50, 58 to close the loop. The end 72 of the member 18 is shaped so that when the link 26 is pressed onto it to retract the member 18 as shown, the link is directed into the loop. The other end link 38 of the chain is permanently connected to the member 16. The link 26 is released by pulling it against the curved end' 20 of the member 16 while holding the housing, so as to withdraw the member 16 against the spring 68. The housing 2, which is rectangular in cross-section, may be curved in longitudinal section, and may receive identification information or be ornamented.
